Just a little update....
First of all, today is 23 Weeks! There's no "fruit/veggie comparison" because (as i said last week) they go by months now... so we'll be "a papaya" for a couple more weeks! I'm sure he's still growing like a weed in there though! I'm sure there are different sizes of papayas... The Bump says: "Baby's little face is fully formed...minus the baby fat, of course. The next task at hand for baby: sprouting two teeny-tiny nipples!" :)
A "big thing" that happened with the baby this past weekend is we felt him kick!!! I had laid down to go to sleep last Friday (22 weeks 2 days), and he got active, as he normally does. I was lying flat on my back and placed my hands on my belly and felt him from the outside. I had been feeling more kicks recently, not just flutters so i was definitely excited to feel him outside of my belly!!! The next day (22 weeks 3 days), after my mom and I got home from running errands, I laid down on the bed to rest and Andrew was able to feel him for a quick second as well! It was definitely an amazing moment to have him share in what I have been feeling from the inside. Not a minute later, we brought my mom in to feel and he decided he had shown off enough for the day... so she never felt him. But we'll get her soon enough! When I'm not laying down or sitting completely straight, I'm starting to get some pains in my upper stomach, below my chest. I guess he's made a little home there for the moment! :) It subsides when I lay down or sit completely straight up. Oh yeah, and I seriously can't sleep on my stomach anymore.... Boo. :(
We are scheduled to close tomorrow, November 19th, on our new house!!!! Everything seems to be in order as of tonight, so we're crossing fingers, knocking on wood, and most importantly... PRAYING that everything goes well and as planned!
It's really amazing how things work out. Tomorrow, our closing date, would also have been my due date for my first little one. How ironic is that??? Back on April 11th, when we lost the baby, there is no way that I could have figured out what kind of reason God had for taking this little one from us. I knew there was a reason, but I couldn't imagine what it could be. Would I give anything to have that child right now? Yes. Do I know that God had and has a plan for our lives, no matter what the circumstances? Yes.
And here we are... we're having a child. Just four months later. We will be in our new house. With space for a nursery. And an office. And a driveway for all of our friends and family to come see our new little man when he comes into this world. God has a funny way of doing things, but when you look at the big picture, you realize that things work out... in His way... in His time.
From here on out, the "fruit/veggie comparisons" will be once a month.
For the 5th month, our little boy is a Papaya!!!
Here's what TheBump says about the 5th Month: Baby's now the size of a papaya! Baby's settling into sleep cycles, snoozing about 12 to 14 hours a day. It shouldn't be hard to figure out when -- just pay attention to those kicks as they start and stop.
here are some more belly pictures from the past couple of weeks :)
Here's what TheBump says about Week 21: "Baby's now the size of a banana! Baby's digestive system is busy creating meconium (a tarry black substance made of swallowed amniotic fluid, digestive secretion, and dead cells), which will fill the first diaper after birth. And, if baby is a girl, her womb is now stocked up with her lifetime supply of six million eggs (the number will drop to around one million by birth)."p.s. keep in mind this is done by length, not by total size of the fruit. so going from a cantaloupe to a banana... no, we are not getting smaller!!! :)
