you're gonna miss this... 2 years later

So this afternoon, I was driving home after a lunch date, to see Andrew, my husband, as he was waking up, to spend a couple hours with him before he went off to work for the night. A song came on the radio and it took me back to this...

I hate to admit it, but it brought tears to my eyes...

Before she knows it
She's a brand new bride
In her one bedroom apartment
And her daddy stops by
He tells her "It's a nice place"
She says "It'll do for now"
Starts talking about babies
And buying a house
Daddy shakes his head
And says "Baby just slow down"

Cause
You're going to miss this
You're going to want this back
You're going to wish these days
Hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're going to miss this

Five years later
There's a plumber
Working on the water heater
Dogs barking, phones ringing
One kids crying, one kids screaming
She keeps apologizing
He says "They don't bother me.
I've got two babies of my own.
One's 36, one's 23.
It's hard to believe...

It's hard to believe we're in between these two verses right now... no longer in our one bedroom apartment, bought a house, starting out as parents... What a difference a couple of years can make, right? Don't get me wrong, I LOVE being a mommy. I wouldn't go back for anything in the world. But it's just so interesting how you look back, when you thought you had it so bad, you always wanted so much more... but they were some of the best times.

Oh yeah, have i mentioned that we're blessed?

Just on a side note: Isn't it so weird that I heard that song TODAY, and wrote about it on this blog exactly 2 YEARS to the day from the first one??? Just sayin'...

Four Months Old!

Wow! Nate is FOUR MONTHS OLD already! We have one active, growing, happy little boy on our hands!

A couple of things going on in our four month old's life:

- he has a love affair with his feet... he LOVES to grab them, kick them, and has finally reached them to his mouth. Guess we better stop the dog from licking them!

- he has been eating cereal for about a month now and is doing quite well. The pediatrician didn't want us to start it until 4 months, but due to him not being satisfied, we decided to start it earlier. He has it one meal a day right now and he opens his mouth and leans forward when he sees the spoon. Sometimes he gets a little impatient because it doesn't come out as fast as a bottle, but he's doing great!

- he has discovered his voice! he babbles, coos, yells, squeals.... and screams. (but that's few and far between) :)

- he does 180 degree turns in the crib almost nightly. We put him to bed (on his back), and about 15 minutes later, he's grunting and cooing so I go in there and he's faced the opposite way on his belly. He just looks up and smiles!

- he is VERY cheery in the morning. He wakes me
up every morning by talking and cooing, very rarely by crying. I walk in and when he sees me (sometimes i just watch him without being seen) he grins the biggest grin you've ever seen!

- he still sleeps 10-12 hours a night, as he has since about 8 weeks. we are SO blessed!

- he's in size 2 diapers and getting into his 3-6 month clothes.

- he sits up supported, we're not quite doing that by ourselves yet. :)

- he can roll over! this happened just past his 3 month birthday, and i don't know if I've posted it yet. He is doing so great on his tummy now. When he first learned to roll onto his tummy, he would start crying immediately and now he doesn't mind being on his tummy at all!

- he LOVES his little play mat/gym thing, and it keeps mommy happy because it keeps him occupied quite a bit! :)

- he LOVES his Daddy. period.

- he also loves his puppy, Sophie.

- he's quite fond of me too. :)
